ESR5: Viedma Ripening-enabled Chiral Synthesis

Host institution: Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands (RUN)
Supervisor:  Prof Elias VLIEG
Industrial toolbox research group: WP4 Hybrid Resolution
Individual project research objective:
Committee membership: Dissemination Committee
Visits/Secondments: USTRATH, FAU, TC

Background

Giuseppe holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of Ferrara, Italy. After an experience of 6 months working as a chemical engineer in a multinational company, he decided to apply as a PhD student in this network, in order to improve his skills and learn from people with high scientific backgrounds, collaborating together with the other researchers. His passion for chemistry and his curiosity brought him to choose this important step for his career.

Research Interests

During his Master’s Thesis work, Giuseppe and the team he was working with mainly focused on the synthesis of optically active compounds and their deracemization, through the use of specific kind of enzymes as a catalysts. Those chiral compounds could be used then, in a further step, for the synthesis of some strategic pharmaceuticals.
